MK2866, or Ostarine, is part of the family of compounds called Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs). Ostarine was originally developed as a compound to help combat muscle- and skeletal wasting diseases and disorders. Ostarine is sometimes referred to as the SARM with the least adverse effects and has shown to be low in androgenic activity. This means that Ostarine attaches itself to androgen receptors in the muscle and skeletal system with minimal impact on other tissues and organs. Ostarine has not been cleared for medical use in humans.
Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) – therapeutic compounds with similar properties to anabolic agents, but with reduced androgenic properties. They have advantage of androgen-receptor specificity, tissue selectivity, and lack of steroid-related side effects.
