What is TUDCA?

Tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA) is a bile acid derivative that occurs naturally in small amounts in some research models. It is the taurine-conjugated form of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA).

The compound has been investigated in preclinical and clinical settings for its role in maintaining bile flow. It is also believed to support hepatobiliary function and modulate endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.

Due to its hydrophilic nature, TUDCA is of particular interest in research for the following:
