ACE 031 as a peptide is a strong myostatin inhibitor. It has a high affinity to bind to myostatin (GDF-8). It thereby prevents myostatin from binding and activating its natural ACVR2B receptor.  It is studied in experimental and preclinical models as a ligand trap for myostatin (growth differentiation factor-8, GDF-8). Myostatin is a regulatory protein involved in skeletal muscle signaling pathways.
