1-Andro (1-Androstene 3b-ol, 17-one) is a non-methylated prohormone that converts to 1-Testosterone, unlike 4-Andro, which doesn’t convert to DHT or estrogen.

1-Andro is a prohormone that may act as a precursor of 1 testosterone. 1-Testosterone is a synthetic anabolic hormone with twice the anabolic potency of testosterone. It is highly selective to the androgen receptor throughout the body.

1-Andro, also known as 1-androsterone or 1-DHEA, is an androgen prohormone of 1-testosterone. The active ingredient in 1-Andro is 3β-hydroxy-5α-androstan-17-one, which WADA classifies as an “endogenous anabolic steroid (AS) when administered exogenously.” [R]

How Does 1-Andro Work?

Research shows that the body has the potential to convert 1-Andro to other hormones if it were to enter the bloodstream. Some of these hormones are very similar to testosterone. For instance, one of the hormones 1-Andro may be converted to is 1 Testosterone, which is 2x as potent as testosterone. [R]

The biosynthesis of 1 testosterone from 1-Andro is controlled by the 17 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase enzyme. Since this enzyme is a family of multiple isozymes, it might convert 1 Andro to several sex steroids other than testosterone. [R]
